Here is a simple step to fix it... but before you proceed make sure that it's your computer not your neighbors!
You need to have a BOOTABLE Windows XP disc to do this and keep your Product key handy!
1. Insert your Bootable Windows XP disc.
2. Pay attention to your screen. "Press any key to boot from cd" - make sure to press any key before this message go away or else you'll start all over again.
3. First screen will indicate that Setup is inspecting your system and loading files.
4. When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press ENTER to Setup Windows.
5. Press F8 to accept the EULA or the End Users License Agreement.
6. Select the repair option on the Next screen. Select your Windows XP installation and press R to begin the Repair process.
7. Let it run until it restart by itself. during the restart process do not press any key to boot from CD. let it load normally. If you accidentally press any key you'll be force to restart you computer or start the whole process again.
8. Setup will resume after the reboot process and will show you the Windows Logo. Once you're already in the Windows Installation Page, you will see the Installing Windows is highlighted.
9.Keep your eyes in the lower left hand side of the screen. Press SHIFT + F10 once you see the Installing Device Progress Bar. A command console will now open allowing you to access your system.
10. Type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. It will show you the Graphical user interface of the User Accounts in the Control Panel.
11. Pick the account you need to change or remove. Change your password as you prefer. You can type control userpasswords2 if you don't want to enter a new password. After you’ve made your changes close the windows, exit the command box and continue on with the Repair.
12. Once its done you should be able to log on without any problem. All programs and setting should still be the same.
Cautions: Do not cancel setup. Canceling setup might result in data loss or data corruptions.
